The New Balance 2002R Gore-Tex Charcoal by JJJJound features water-resistant Gore-Tex technology that keeps the wearers foot dry in harsh weather conditions. As for the rest of the shoe, the upper has a black mesh base and dark grey suede overlays. Reflective detailing provides visibility in dark light on the N logo and leather heel tab. A Gore-Tex hang tag appears on the lateral side of the midfoot.
